G’day InVerse community!
Here are this weeks readings for those who are joining us on this transformative [re]introduction to the Hebrew Bible through the scholarship of Rev Dr Wil Gafney.
Below are the pages but here is a quote that many found impactful this week:
“Sarah chooses the role of female patriarch and enforces the patriarchal hierarchy on Hagar, even when Abraham does not require her to do so. She has another option, as Renita Weems demonstrates in “Just a Sister Away,” solidarity and sisterhood. In this reading Sarah serves as a cautionary tale bearing witness to the temptation to exercise whatever privilege we may have over someone else, rather than stand with them in shared peril, thereby extending and transforming privilege.”
This week we will read,
Hagar p.38
Rivqah (Rebekah) p.45
Qeturah (Keturah) p.52
Abraham’s Lesser Wives p.53
Rachel p.54
We look forward to hearing how the Spirit moves you through these passages as we gather next time.
