He is also pastor of Christmas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bethlehem. As Munther warned, speaking out about these realities, comes with the “blessing” of people misunderstanding us, falsely say all kinds of things against us. InVerse has already been impacted financially. But as Martin Luther King Jr. replied to a journalist who aren’t isnt his position on the Vietnam going to hurt the budget of his organisation he replied,
“I’m sorry sir, but you don’t know me… I don’t determine what is right and wrong looking at the budget of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference”
King went on to say,
“Ultimately a genuine leader is not a searcher of consensus but a moulder of consensus. On some positions cowardice asks the question, is it safe? Expediency asks the question, is it politic? Vanity asks the question, is it popular? But conscience asks the question, is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right.”
Can I say clearly, InVerse Podcast will not determine it’s ethics upon what is safe, nor politic, nor popular but is it is loyal to the liberating nonviolent love of Jesus. A costly incarnational solidarity —a equality of heart with all that suffer— that refuses to lose track of the image of God in every human being.
So be assured, InVerse stands against every form of racism including:
-antisemitism
-Islamophobia
-ethnic cleansing
-genocide
Please pray for our brother, Rev Dr Munther, as we pick up our cross and share in Christ’s sufferings in “sumud”.
Grace and peace,
Jarrod
